Denise and Matt climb Killimanjaro...
Sitting at the top of Kilimanjaro!
18th Jan 2007
Well, we made it to the top at 8.30 am on 18th January 2007! Considering that Matt had been throwing up all the way (altitude sickness) and I had two hissy fit tantrums (a result of absolute fear, exhaustion and 'why oh why did I want to do this?!'), we're thrilled to have made it to the top!
I think I can speak for both of us when I say the whole journey was an amazing experience. From start to finish it was certainly unforgettable. To be above the clouds and see the views we did was a privilege.
We had a great time with the group we were in - 9 Brits and 3 from the USA, and not forgetting the 3 assistant guides, 1 chief guide, the 'stomach engineer' (chef) and 42 porters. Well I wasn't going to carry my own bag dahling, per-lease!
The charity we have chosen to support are CODRA who work with local communitites to support sustainable projects to improve health, socio-economic growth and education in an area around the Serengeti, Tanzania.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: CODRA (UK) will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor us now!
Thank you and lots of love and best wishes - see you soon!
