Community Development and Relief Agency

The Community Development and Relief Agency is a Non-Governmental Organisation founded in 2001 to work with the poor or marginalised sections of society, to help them achieve sustainable socio-economic growth.

Our Approach

CODRA works closely with local communities to assess needs and develop sustainable solutions.

CODRA aims to help communities help themselves through a participatory approach. All projects depend on the significant participation of the local community both in decision-making and provision of labour and local resources.

We work closely with local communities to assess needs and develop sustainable solutions. We oversee project planning, implementation and monitoring through co-operation with district and regional authorities as well as development partners.

In addition to development and relief projects, CODRA promotes sustainable development through seminars, workshops, symposia, trade fairs and other means.

Current Projects

To date, CODRA has successfully implemented a variety of projects including the construction of new water wells, rehabilitation of delapidated water supply infrastructure, construction of primary and secondary schools, and numerous good governance programs across Tanzania.

Since August 2004 CODRA has been engaged in the rehabilitation of pre-existing water pipelines from the 1970s and in the construction of new shallow and deep wells.

CODRA is working on securing funding for numerous future income generation projects including micro-finance schemes for entrepreneurial enterprises in Busega.
